Appointment Types

Pre-bookable Appointments

You can pre-book an appointment with your GP up to 3 weeks in advance by contacting the surgery on 01287 619611 between 8.00am and 6.00pm or use our online appointment booking facility.

Same-day Appointments

We have a selection of Same-day appointments available each day. Our telephone lines are open from 8.00am for patients wishing to book a Same-day appointment.

Telephone Appointments

Each doctor offers the choice of a Telephone Appointment; if you have something that you feel doesn’t require a face to face consultation then please ask the Reception Team for a Telephone Appointment with your chosen GP.

Nurses Appointments

You can book an appointment with one of our Practices Nurses, Healthcare Assistant or Phlebotomist up to 6 weeks in advance, please note: to book an appointment with a member of the Nursing Team you will have to telephone the surgery on: 01287 619611 these appointments cannot be booked on-line.

Extended Hours Appointments

The STAR Service has a Web Booking System for Patients. This will allow patients to directly book appointments into the STAR Extended Hours Service.

To use this service you will need to complete and On-Line Registration Form where you will be given the appropriate Log-in details, visit for further information.

Care Navigator

Springwood Surgery will soon be offering patients a new service called "Care Navigator".

Care Navigation offers patients the choice to access the most appropriate service first. Care Navigators will be trained to confidentially sign post the patient and offer the patient the choice to go straight to the service which best meets their health and well-being needs.

Care Navigation training is designed to provide GP reception and health care professionals with the knowledge and skills to inform and signpost patients to appropriate local health and well-being services in a safe and effective way.

MJog Messenger

The MJog Messenger app allows you to get automated reminder messages, including appointments, which give you a quick and easy way to cancel an appointment you no longer need. This helps to avoid wasting GP time, and helps the NHS to save money including the cost of SMS messages sent by your Practice.

If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. Alternatively bring along a member of your family or friend to your appointment.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you are unable to attend for your appointment we expect at least 24 hours notice, except in extreme cases, so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

We have a STRICT policy for patients who regularly miss their appointments which may ultimately result in the removal of them/their family from the practice list.

If you cannot keep your appointment with the Doctor or Nurse, please let Reception know in good time:

  2. Online:
    Use this alternative online cancellation method (no login required).
  3. By Telephone: Please call us on 01287 619 611 and tell the receptionist.

We can offer your appointment to someone else and therefore help to reduce waiting times.
