Winter Vaccines 2024/2025

Flu Vaccine. GP practices have been advised that pregnant women and children can be vaccinated from September 2024.

However, all other eligible groups are to be vaccinated from October 2024. This is the official guidance received from the JCVI and applies to GP practices and pharmacies alike. We will contact all eligible patients once we are able to offer the vaccine.

COVID Vaccine. Springwood Surgery have signed-up to take part in the Autumn/Winter COVID vaccine booster campaign. Those eligible for the COVID vaccine are care home residents, adults aged 65 and over and adults in a clinical risk group. The COVID vaccine can be, and is encouraged to be, co-administered with the flu vaccine.

RSV Vaccine. From September 2024, a new vaccination programme will commence to protect pregnant ladies and patients aged 75 – 79 years of age against Respiratory Syncytial virus (or RSV)

RSV is a major cause of respiratory illness – the virus can lead to pneumonia and infant bronchiolitis. Once the campaign has started we will contact eligible patients directly with appointment invitations.
